Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!  Hope everyone is planning a fun night!  I really dont like to see this day come and go so quick since it means the beginning of the end of Fall for me.. :(  I seriously wait all year for this beautiful season so I try to just take in as much as I can while it is here.  Our spooky night started a bit early here in Ohio.  The night before we had heard we would have some high winds because of "Sandy" but we never expected this.....

After all...we are in Ohio!  Remember?  Yikes...thats my youngest son's car under the pine tree....
We had three pines down...all of which are very old and VERY tall.  Lots of clean up coming our way I'm afraid and it is still raining as I type this.  On to the NEW challenge at the Stampotique blog     Astrid  is asking for a "funny" Halloween creation.  Who doesnt love that?  I made a tag and then put some magnets on it so my daughter could hang it on her frig...
.

I sprayed some inks on and stenciled with some distress inks for the background. Then stamped "heads" on top.  I stamped "corie", "Frankie" and "skull boy" and cut them out .  They were colored with some random markers and popped up on the tag.  I also made my own tattered looking flower for the top and did some sewing from it.  White dots are from my uniball pen. Thanks for looking and I hope you enjoy a festive evening....

Unscripted Saturday..

Unscripted Sketches for today:

New sketch at the US blog and here is what I did with it:
I had previously applied some mat-
medium on tissue paper to my journal and
inked it up.  I wasnt ready for a Christmas
page yet  tho the sketch definitely lends it self
to one!  Still.. the "cones" had to be trees in my mind !
I did some inking on them and sewing before I put them in the book.  The cute circle pics were cut out from a wonderful Halloween inchie sheet from ARTchixStudio.com  and Altered Arts magazine kit club. I am linking up with Art Journal everyday. and Paint Party Friday.  I love this time of year best of all and I am sad Halloween will be over soon ..  Have a great weekend and Halloween night.

SDC 71 "case/get inspired" by a dt member

New challenge from the Stampotique dt is always a fun one for me . " Case or get inspired " by a Stampotique dts' creation (any one) and show us yours!  I love the whole dt and can always come away with some inspiration..but it is hard to pick just one!  My creation today comes from Maria and Sarinda.  Maria ofcourse because she has designed her very first line of images thru Stampotique and I have used her Zara bunny.  Sarinda, because she made a tag a while back that I loved..simple but awesome.  I just made it into a card.
This image (at Stampotique) is called "hung out to dry" #7302 and there are just so many occasions to use this.  The inside says "hang in there" which I have computer generated.  The bunny is colored with copics lightly, die cut and put on another die cut from some map like dp.  The background is cs put in an embossing folder then sewn on to kraft cs.  The spots of ink were sprayed on.

Below I want to just share a couple of fun Halloween cards that I made for my nieces....
Love this image from the Graphics Fairy and I am so happy I finally got to use it! The witches were printed twice and cut out to pop up. "The academy for young witches" is on the banner over them. I used some MME Halloween dp and a tiny garland also from MME (indie chic). I also am placing this over at "Raise the bar" challenge blog to" use a witch."and  Drunken stampers: " use buttons."
Below is "smile" from Stampotique colored and put on a mixed media post card.  I used some acrylics and a stencil to colorize. :)  The tiny leaves were punched out of heavy cs with a border punch and used like a stencil with ink pads. Post cards are so fun!  TFL

New challenge post: "make a background"

Carol Fox...Stampotique dt member has challenged us to "make a back ground" with our stamps!   Here is mine:
I used "heads" from Stampotique Originals and stamped it over some alcohol inks that I "blew thru a straw" on some glossy cs.  LOVE this technique...it's awesome.  Talk about a quick fun card!  This is it... :)   I did a little crazy sewing too.  Did you know that you can use ANY image for the Stampotique challenges now?  Yep!  Join us!
I also would like to share with you my next alphabet atc for the swap at Tee's blog..the letter "C"....
Hope my partner enjoys it!  TFL!

My kind of scrapbooking !

I love all kinds of art and I think I am always trying to evolve.  :)  Though I have admired a lot of scrapbooking pages, it hasnt been a passion of mine.  However, now.... with all the very cool ways to art journal and scrap book I am really enjoying it!  The new challenge at the Stampotique designers' blog is to   "use a photo along side a stamp for a mini book or scrap book page."   I ALSO had a project in mind to make for "Altered Arts" magazine and decided to tie them all together.  I picked up a "travel journal" from a used book store and gessoed, painted and applied a vintage sewing pattern to the cover.  I stamped my hand in black ink and then applied an old watch piece over some tea bag tops.  Along with several other embellies and letter stickers.  I used my white uniball pen to highlite.
I really love the way it came out.  Now a peek at the inside...I gessoed several pages together since they were so thin.  I painted with my fingers (acrylics) and did some stenciling with some Julie Balzer stencils.  I stamped "crooked houses", "daisy daisy", "heart vine" and "wee owl" all from Stampotique.  I decided to start the book with my four kids and printed some pics on card stock and cut them out.  They were strategically :)  placed behind the houses and "collage pauged" down.  I even printed pics of my dogs!  lol  The crowns were given to me from a friend so I am not sure where they are from.

I have a sneaking suspicion all "my scrapbooks" are going to be a bit "qwirkey" from now on!  By the way...you really NEED to check out what the other dt girls did for this challenge...Seriously...this could be my favorite challenge so far!
I am linking to "art journal everyday".  Thanks for looking!

SDC68 "whatever the weather! "

NEW challenge at the Stampotique designers' blog = Weather!  Sue is the hostess and I thought this was such a fun idea!

I used a combination of new and older images from the Stampotique store. The background was started from another journal page (love to do that) with left over inks and paints.  I also used some stencils.  Images used:  "owl tree" in black soot, "Daniel's tree topper" in black and colored with markers (flying around!), "crooked house" stamped on a book page and "Gog lin and Gobby lin" (two cute little elf guys colored and cut out to put on the page. This was so much fun!  Thanks Sue :)
On a side note:  I am in a very fun swap that "Tee" at the "Altered Paper " hosts and it is an alphabet theme.  Below is my letter "B" for my partner.  Check it out and come play!  Each month is a new letter and the letter must be somewhere on the atc. Btw...those are bones in the back! lol  Hey, why not? Its almost Halloween and they begin with the letter "B"!  Thanks for looking!
